Herman Cain may have helmed the National Restaurant Association in the 1990s, but the trade group is leaving him to sort out reports of alleged sexual harassment on his own. In a statement, a spokeswoman for the organization said they would offer up no information on the accusations in question.
“The incidents in question relate to personnel matters that allegedly took place nearly fifteen years ago,” Sue Hensley, Senior VP of Public Affairs at the NRA said in an e-mail. “Consistent with our longstanding policy, we don’t comment on personnel issues relating to current or former employees.”
Cain says he was “falsely accused” of sexual harassment while president and CEO of the NRA, but that the investigations were found to be “baseless.” According to Politico’s sources, two women who worked with Cain complained of “suggestive behavior by Cain that made them angry and uncomfortable” and left after securing financial compensation for Cain’s behavior.
