Cain: ‘We Need A Leader, Not A Reader’

Herman Cain has a new response to the media fallout over his bungled answer about his Libya policy.

Susan Archer of ABC News reports that Cain declared at a campaign event in Nashua, New Hampshire: “We need a leader, not a reader.”

Corroborating the reports that this is something Cain…actually…said, Steve Peoples of the Associated Press also reports Cain saying that knowing every detail is not important: “We need a leader, not a reader.”

So it turns out that Ronald Reagan isn’t Cain’s only political role model — his other is the fictionalized “President Schwarzenegger” from The Simpsons Movie!

On Monday, Cain badly fumbled an interview with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, video of which was posted online of him struggling to explain his stance on President Obama’s intervention Libya.

“I do not agree with the way he handled it, for the following reasons — No, that’s a different one,” Cain said, pausing, and seeming as if he was working from rote memorization (and mixing up his answers). “I gotta go back, see. (Pauses) Got all this stuff twirling around in my head. Specifically, what are you asking me, did I agree or not disagree (sic) with Obama?”

Then, this Thursday morning, his campaign cancelled an interview with the New Hampshire Union Leader, that state’s largest paper, when they were unable to exclude C-Span from videotaping it.
