Even The Yelp App Is Mocking Rick Perry

Rick Perry

You know something’s become a meme when even unrelated industries start mocking it. This happened to John McCain during the 2008 election campaign, when his disastrous line, “The fundamentals of our economy are strong” took off so much it even made its way into a Wendy’s commercial.

Now the same is happening for Rick Perry’s “oops” moment.

Users of the iPhone Yelp app have recently discovered the following “update” message:

Oops, indeed.

Oops! ... I did it again.

I played with your vote.

Got lost in the game.

Oh, baby; baby.

Oops!... You think I'm in conservative.

That I'm sent from above...I'm not that innocent.

You see my problem is this:

I'm dreaming away;

Wishing that smart GOP policies, they truly exist.

I cry watching the others.

Can't you see I'm a fool

In so many ways?

But to lose all my senses...

That is just so typically me.

Baby, oh.

... amazing what changing a few words will do.

The moment was perfect: the raw length of the flub, the sheer insanity of actually proposing to abolish 3 cabinet departments, and the amazing childishness of the "oops" - the oops made the moment.

But from a serious standpoint, the Republicans suggesting abolishing the departments that handle education funding and student loans, trade deals and support for exporters, and nuclear energy regulation, waste disposal and alternative energy research is an example of how out of touch those people are.

Too bad Rick Perry will never get the nomination. I was looking forward to him picking Miss South Carolina as his running mate.

Perry's brain freeze was the most watched video in the USA yesterday, I read. I think the boy might have a very promising career ahead of him as a product pitchman -- he's the new "Vern."

peterprinciple LOL... Vern it is

Vern Parry... no

just Vermin... maybe

c'mon what's the name going to be?

We have the talent to rise t this...

Hey I find that offensive! Vern had a good heart and was in real life a great guy. Perry is really a stupid bully and a asshole. Just because a guy is slow, has N----Head on his property and just can't recall the last one. Opps.paulgibson53 peterprinciple

The thing about Perry's "Oops" moment that is disturbing, once you get past the hilarity, is that it demonstrates that his "eliminate departments" rhetoric is just a talking point, nothing more.If he truly believed that eliminating the departments of Energy, Commerce and Education were necessary, he'd have reasons for those choices. And those reasons would serve as mnemonic devices.

But he doesn't have reasons, beyond an irrational resentment of government and a naked desire to serve up applause lines for a teabagger audience.

I guess that's what makes his brain fart so deliciously amusing.

The mystifying thing is that when Mitt Romney threw the poor guy a life preserver by suggesting "EPA", Perry swam away from it.

truth-spin 242 pts

beowulf Or why didn't the mention of the EPA - with it's huge energy related nexus - jar loose the Energy Department. I get it that the guy was no doubt wiped out, but as spas said something like this should be core.

And still Perry and the likes of Cain still have numbers reported in the "polls"

That is a sad commentary on American politics
