Remember Herman Cain? Stephen Colbert does, and on Tuesday he did his best to keep the former “presidential candidate in 30 minutes or less” in the headlines.
Colbert endorsed Cain’s recent endorsement of Newt Gingrich. But, wait. Didn’t Cain give his “unconventional endorsement” to “we the people?” Yes, that’s true. And on the Today Show, Cain admitted he would be very comfortable with Mitt Romney as the GOP nominee.
“He is still endorsing ‘we the people’ … Newt Gingrich is just the people he’s starting with, Romney is next, he will eventually get to everyone,” Colbert said.
“For now, I am endorsing Herman Cain’s endorsement of Newt Gingrich,” Colbert added. “Newt’s my guy. I have supported Gingrich since the very beginning of this sentence.”
