Day In 100 Seconds: A Day Of Lintolerable Puns

Any time an editor produces a highlight reel of an event, an ear will always be kept out for an emerging or repeated theme.

As we approach the 2012 election, we may have been wondering whether cable news had the same enthusiasm for repeated images that we saw in 2008 and 2009. The epic election cycle and healthcare debates gave us “death panels”, lipstick-covered pigs and “palling around with terrorists”.

Now that the rise of the New York Knicks’ Jeremy Lin has caused MSG stocks to rise, the message was loud and clear - keep repeating the theme until everyone is blue in the face.

Of course, as today has proved, it is very possible to have way, way too much of a good thing…
