Colbert: Do Romney, Ryan Have What It Takes ‘To Pretend Other Countries Don’t Exist?’

Stephen Colbert

Stephen Colbert asked the inevitable question on Tuesday: Are Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan ready for the international stage? “Do they have what it takes to pretend other countries don’t exist?”

Colbert is referring to the candidates’ lack of foreign policy credentials. Romney surrogate Tim Pawlenty defended Romney’s international chops by talking up all the jet setting Romney did as the head of Bain Capital.

“That’s right, America’s enemies have nothing on this seasoned business traveler,” Colbert said. “When Iran destabilizes the Middle East by threatening to nuke Israel, Mitt will step in and demand to speak to the concierge.”
