Jon Stewart premiered a new segment on The Daily Show Tuesday, “Barack Obama is the luckiest dude on the planet.” Because, no matter what the disadvantage he faces as the incumbent during a stagnant economic recovery, he is currently surging in the polls. That’s because, Stewart said, Obama is running against a candidate who says uninsured Americans can always go to the emergency room and believes 47 percent of Americans think of themselves as “victims” who are dependent on the government.
“The closer we get to the election, the dumber Mitt Romney appears to be getting,” Stewart said. It made Stewart wonder, “How the hell did this guy even get the nomination?” Well, Rick Perry couldn’t name the third government agency he would eliminate, Newt Gingrich called for a permanent American moon base and Michele Bachamann claimed an HPV vaccination caused mental retardation in a young girl.
