Jon Stewart: How Can The Polls Be So ‘Useless’ Yet So ‘Quotable’?

In the final leg of the presidential election, now that the race has tightened a bit after President Obama’s lackluster debate performance, the political class is fixated on the latest polls.

But earlier, when Obama was in the lead, conservatives complained that pollsters oversampled Democrats in their surveys. Now some polls show Romney up, and some show the president up. There are even polls of the polls.

“How the hell are these polls so divergent, useless, yet accurate and quotable?” Stewart asked Wednesday. “I think we all know what we need. Nerds!”
